80,000 reservations? Where di this author get that number from? The only place I could see this number is when Henrik boasted that the Ocean would have at least 80,000 by the end of 2022 "Fisker projects at least 80,000 reservations by the end of the year. This shows the strong demand the company is seeing for its electric SUV." as reported by Sean back in August of last year. Fell very short of that number, but even still today, how did this article create an 80,000 reservation number?
This statement is also inaccurate and makes me question the author. Its almost like he spent 10 mins looking up random old news tid bits and wrote about it like he is an expert. A massive problem as with all "stock analysts" these days. They are so often very wrong about key points and details. "Its basic model is coming with advanced driver assist technology and higher models come with Fisker Intelligent Pilot, a world-first digital radar system"
@grimtango Yeah, I read that and shook my head too. Nevertheless, slow news days day yesterday (and today).

Its stuff like this that gets me angry. Its even more problematic when reports get numbers wrong in the other direction. Which happens all too often and causes harm in more destructive ways (I couldn't care less about shorts getting hurt honestly). When it comes to financial reporting, we really should start cracking down on the individuals who "report" of key fact based details and hold them accountable if they publish incorrect info. It will never happen, but a person can dream. If we could all rely on the information being published by "experts" things would be so much better.
HF projected 80k reservation at the time when the rate of reservation was climbing. But the latest/most recent number I heard from HF's mouth = 65k.

Correct, the 80k was a projection mentioned by Henrik. I captured that in this article. 65,000 reservations for the Fisker Ocean was confirmed by the company at the end of February. Reservation chart floating around here somewhere on the site.
Since Q2 2022 earnings, Fisker added an additional 2k reservations for the Fisker Ocean. Tonight, the company reports more than 58,000 reservations for the Fisker Ocean, including firm orders. Fisker projects at least 80,000 reservations by the end of the year. This shows the strong demand the company is seeing for its electric SUV. Even with a huge backlog, reservations remain open for customers to get into the reservation queue.

Fisker shares are sinking pretty hard.
I am doubtful still of the Ocean. However I bought 10,000 shares today at $5.41-$5.42 in price. Lets see if Henrik can make me some cash on the hype train. Choo Choo
@grimtango I would think the question which is most critical is delivery schedules. Nothing I can find for saleable vehicles manufactured in Q1 and don't see any updates which would indicate meeting future estimates by Henrik. I really think production estimates are meaningless without updates in production of saleable vehicles. Not too worried about software since that is a never ending situation.

I am not too concerned with Q1 or Q2 estimates honestly. I am betting at this point that cars WILL be delivered, and that alone will result in a bump in the stock price. At these current levels and the prices I bought in at. It would take a good bit of disaster to not see healthy returns. Heck getting back into $6 would be a nice pay day for me. Long term, I am still not convinced as there are lots of variables that make being a car company hard. Recalls, maintenance, general operations of a car biz is very risky and fraught with troubles.
I would be shocked if the Stock doesn't tick up a little once cars start to deliver, even if there are issues with them. This is a gamble against the valuation drop of FSR recently. Risk to reward crossed a line for me.
If the stock were to ever get back to where it entered the market at post SPAC (~$10), I just made a cool $50k. Lets see if the market is hungry.
@grimtango my $13 shares are crying today.. as we enter the $4.50 territory.
I unloaded a bunch when it got to $8 but dang.
I've been buying as it went below $6, may get more now that it is below $5. I almost have to because I jumped the gun and got positions when it was almost $10. That would have been last July and I bought into Fisker's talk (as well as the One). I still think it can be a wonderful car and the stock is not going away anytime soon, just looking now to get cost average down since I do believe it will climb when deliveries happen, but then will be on the look out to sell if it then starts to tank. This is what makes investing fun, right?
What is worrisome about new cars from a new automaker, is that there are so many components connected to each other and handshaking a lot of digital stuff. You cannot just get some third party alternative and put it in like you could before.
Yea man, whatever.
"digital stuff"... that is like the equivalent of "the internet is a series of tubes".
On a serious note.
1 day before mass production for EU begins:
Fisker Goes Bankrupt From Winning Top 5 WORST EV's Coming Out In 2023
@seancallahan Do the number of reservations matter whether it's 80k, 58k, or the claim of building 42k by years end and their capacity for this year is full. I would think the following would be the most critical information at this time would be the actual schedule for building 5k units for the EU and is homologation done for the EU? The video showed the assembly line putting in the battery pack. It was running at a pretty slow rate for start of production. To deliver 5k units by September, I would expect to see the assembly line move faster. Were those vehicles showed being made for US EPA or were they just demonstrating a battery pack being put in a vehicle. What is the build schedule?!!!!

The assembly line can only move so fast. The assembly line is highly sophisticated. This particular station, the battery marriage, was created specifically for the Fisker Ocean. It's the only vehicle on the shared assembly line that uses this equipment. Installing a battery pack in about 60 seconds. That's pretty quick! We don't know where the vehicles in the video are headed. However, it's unlikely the electric SUV headed to EPA lab in Ann Arbor, Michigan as Henrik said it was being prepped.
