Someone with username Anton Cloche mentioned this in the comments section in an article about the PEAR on Inside EVs. The original Houdini gates were from GM in 1972. I looked it up and sure enough: here is a Chevy Townsman and a Pontiac Catalina.

How is it that a regular trunk/hatch takes too much parking space and gets the Houdini truck but also gets a froot that extends the front? 🤷♂️
