I reserved my Pear based on the assumption that it would qualify for a sizable Federal rebate. A $7,500 discount on a $29,900 car is a full 25% off. If Fisker can’t make it qualify, I’m fully expecting other companies to find a way to make a small people mover that does. I’ll hold my reservation for now….but I’ll likely bail and find another sub-30k townie rocket to replace my aging 500e. I think there will be lots of competition in this space in 2024.
What do you think? Is a stripped down Pear worth the full 30k?
There are a lot of competitors jumping into this price point in 2024 / 2025. In addition to the Pear you have the Volvo EX 30 for under $35k which is built on the Smart platform same as the Zeekr X (unlikely to qualify, though). The Tesla low-cost model is coming from Mexico. GM said today that the Bolt will be back as an Ultium. It is far too soon to know how the PEAR will stack up. It will try to be range-leading (which means over 300 miles) and will have the solar roof option. Beyond that, hard to say.

I reserved my Fisker PEAR based on the price point of low $20k assuming it gets the full tax credit. It will be a great car for our family, especially for around town. Patiently waiting for the specs to be released.

If you want the $7.5k, just lease the vehicle when Fisker allows for lease -> buy. Hopefully Fisker takes full advantage of the available options to lower the prices for their consumers.
@fibrepunk I very much want to purchase the Fisker PEAR on their lease program. But I'm concerned that, like with the Ocean, as long as there is a demand to purchase it greater than the supply, the lease will be coming a long time after the vehicle is available for delivery. The tax credit qualification seems to me to be the better goal to shoot for. If the battery can be sourced in the North American requirements, and Foxcon get their assembly line in gear, $7,500 "discount" goes a long way to reducing the price.
