I am in the process of taking delivery of FOO and Fisker team confirmed ocean one do not qualify for federal tax rebate anymore . Is that so ?
@Sean , Referring to official email from Fisker and could you please confirm the same ?
@viaticalbat Their "any more" would apply to cars whose orders were confirmed after August 16, 2022. Assuming your FOO order was confirmed on/prior to that date you qualify for the federal $7500 tax credit on your 2022 taxes under the transition rule. Read about it here:
https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/credits-for-new-electric-vehicles-purchased-in-2022-or-before
You will have to file an amendment to your 2022 taxes to claim the credit. If you owed less than $7500 taxes in 2022, you will get back no more than your total tax amount.
At Facility, delivery as soon as Nov 25. Ocean Extreme, Horizon Gray, Black Abyss Plus, F7 wheels, VIN 71xx
@carlh *IF* your FOO order was confirmed and non-refundable deposit made before Aug 16 2022 then you qualify. There are a number of FOO vehicles that Fisker is selling / attempting to sell to people on a wait list or who are transferring the order from an original FOO customer (which Fisker is allowing now). For the people ordering now (or after Aug 16) the vehicle is not eligible.
BTW, I filed my amendment electronically when the car arrived. Exactly three weeks later the tax credit appeared in my checking account. Pretty quick!

@viaticalbat Bayoubob is absolutely correct! FWIW our 2022 taxes were on extension and submitted after we received the FOO in September--Our taxes were prepared by a large top tier accounting firm that has been around since the late 1800s--we did in-fact get the $7500 credit

@bayoubob Quite right, I'm adding "Assuming" to my previous post to get it in line in case he is picking up an abandoned order from someone else.

Thank you all for quick response. I will check with my CPA tomorrow .
Title is misleading. Any one with a confirmed Fisker order before Aug16, 2022 is eligible for 7500 Federal credit irrespective of their income. Some people here already got their Federal credit back.
I thought there was an income limit to be able to claim the credit, but I'll let my CPA handle when i file 2023.
@tfixer It not a 2023 Tax issue. Its a 2022 tax issue. Nothing to do with 2023 UNLESS you took over an order in which case you did not pay the $5000 lock in fee before August 16, 2022.
If you took over an order after that date there may be rebates if you are under the income limits that changed for 2023 in addition to US manufacturing requirements neither of which were in effect in 2022.

There is no tax credit for the Fisker Ocean for 2023 tax year. The car does not qualify because of US manufacturing requirements. The only way to claim the credit is on your 2022 return (either original or amended return) under the transition rule. FYI, I'm a tax practioner w/ 18 yrs experience that oversees 10,000 tax returns a year. And a FOO owner!
