I'm trying to find out the specs of the various types of wheels that you can order the Fisker Ocean with. Can anyone confirm them (and maybe add them to the Big list of Questions thread)?

  • AeroStealth (diameter - 20", width - 7.5, offset - ?, bolt pattern - ?, hub size - ?)
  • AirGlider (diameter - 22", width - 8.5, offset - ?, bolt pattern - ?, hub size - ?)
  • SlipStream (diameter - 22", width - 8.5, offset - ?, bolt pattern - ?, hub size - ?)
  • Vortex (diameter - 22", width - 8.5, offset - ?, bolt pattern - ?, hub size - ?)

20”s are 7.5” wide; 22”s are 8.5” wide.  No other information available yet.

I also would love to know the bolt pattern as that would give us a clue as to what wheel options we could shop for

Yeah, the limited options for 20" wheels and the ridiculous price for the 22" wheels is pushing me to get my own wheels.

I'll keep the top post updated here as soon as I found out more details.

Yes the upgrade is way too expensive. A Norwegian rims site megahjul.com seems to think there are two versions of the Ocean.

Offset 40, 5x120, hub 64.1

And

Offset 40, 5x112, hub 66.5

Well that doesn't make sense. Thanks ,but I don't imagine it will be 2 bolt patterns. 5 by  120 is older BMW  . I think now BMW is the other   5 by 112

@speedyholm Are these Norwegian guestimates  for 20” and 22” respectively?

Will I get my Fisker One delivered before my VW needs its 100K service?? The race is on..
and…… will we still get the $7500 tax credit? Only HF knows…

Offset 40, 5x120, hub 64.1 is the exact same specs as the Model S front wheels (Back wheels are 45 mm).

I am not putting a lot of faith in the Norwegian company.

@ttrinchi I agree I also do not trust that Norweigan company. I would have more confidence in them, it they only had on set of specs. Just found it interesting. But I guess we all will get the specs eventually, and be able to buy cheaper aftermarket rims. 🙂

@speedyholm probably the biggest reason why HF has released scant details on the Ocean. Its pretty widely shared that the only 20” wheel option is ugly AF and many folks will upgrade to 22”’s. Can you imagine if there was a solid 20” aftermarket option that costs significantly less than the $2k wheel upgrade Fisker offers?

His whole business model is predicated on upgrades. A $2k hit to even 10% of the cars is potentially millions lost…

@seaphil The 20" wheels without the aero shield are ok. They will do till something better is available aftermarket. The extra weight of the Ocean vs a similar ICE SUV might be a limiter on choice but there should be ample options @ $150-$300 per wheel, particularly in 20".  I almost always get the manufacturers base wheel and upgrade aftermarket.

Thanks to this discussion , I started to wonder if  other aspects  than initial cost and beauty should be considered when choosing between rims.  This UTUBE seem helpful for framing some questions that would be good to know before choosing which way to go: Porsche on low aerodynamic drag wheel design -

Julian Edgar:

image

For the Lucky Ocean Ones with free cost choice between three designs some good things to know would be

a) weight differences

b) drag coef differences

c) Is the ride and/or handling better for one type of driving (highway vs city vs ...)

d) For Towing, is brake cooling better.

For the 20" vhoice.  Other than lower weight and cost, does the removable cover have an advantage , purpose for brake cooling  for towing or other  types of high brake use driving.

Reviving this thread! Has anyone been able to find more technical specs about wheels? Especially the 20" AeroStealth wheels?

This is basically everything we know about wheel options:

AeroStealth
Votex
AirGlider
SlipStream
