Don't we need a VIN # and when the vehicle was first placed in service to claim credit?

I  BELIEVE, when you file your amended 2022 return you provide the VIN!

Have not discussed with my accountant yet but definitely will.  We should actually have our "ONE" before filing our 2022 return

If ONLY Rivian were to get me my R1S before October. Ha! I am afraid my Binding Contract will expire with Rivian's delays. Ah well, at least the ONE will come through.

Why would the binding contract expire?  I don't see any expiration language in my contract.

I am talking about an IRS limitation. I will need to go back in 2024 and amend my 2022 tax for a vehicle that has a 2024 delivery and is taking credit as if it were a 2022 purchase. Might be allowed or IRS might sunset this thing. I am not optimistic. I have always been confident in the vehicles delivered this calendar year. Next year... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@bayoubob That is my plan - and would actually need to amend twice as I will be amending this year for the Ocean.  Thankfully, I have enough tax liability to cover all $15k.

Good guy Rivian. I wish Fisker would send out a message about this.

@bayoubob Did you configure a R1S with max pack and dual motor?  Can you convert your R1S tri motor/large pack to dual motor max pack and get legacy pricing?  The dual motor max pack is definitely appealing!  If I go that route no legacy pricing for me as my sister got the R1T with my legacy pricing reservation.

@nofrunk they said on instagram that they would be announcing how pre March reservation holders can upgrade to the DM max pack. Based on R1T it will likely be more than the quad LR pack but much less than the max pack upgrade. Basically they are going to take the old pricing and credit back the difference in dual vs quad but add back difference in LR vs Max pack. I think…

@bayoubob THANKS!  I just built the Dual motor with large pack (max pack not yet available via the configurator) and the options I would want (minimal extras-just paint and the large pack)--86,500--have to think the max pack will add at least another 4K---kind of wish I had another reservation with legacy pricing-oh well

Wife made me order a second R1S last week. Got tired of wishing we had made two reservations back in the day.

Different in R1T Max vs Large pack is net $8k. Based on R1T I am guessing the legacy pricing R1S switched to a dual motor will be:

$75,500 (no options)

minus $8000 for Dual Motor Downgrade

Plus $8000 for Max pack upgrade

=$83,500

Plus $2,000 for performance upgrade

=$85,500 and get 2023 delivery

The base model 86,500 is a 340 mile range with the 21" tires. It is a very good option for us. But who knows. The Rivian mystery continues.

I hope we get an “EV Tax Credit--Info JUST received from”…Fisker “black or white”. 🤨

Until then, the instructions for 8936 (i8936) states:

B91C9726 8A94 44D4 8B3F 5E4602861C3B
27E53312 37C1 4793 A7EE EBFF8BE324E0

+ for now, IRS has, for “Fisker Automotive, Inc.” only……Karma. 😥

BB8F220A 4002 49DD 839A 206FF2BBC025

Anyway, it’s worth a try,…who knows…. 🤔

@jevs From the IRS website

Purchase date vs. delivery date

If you entered a written binding contract to buy a vehicle after December 31, 2021, and before August 16, 2022, but took delivery on or after August 16, 2022, you may elect to claim the credit based on the prior rules.  To elect the credit under the prior rules you must elect the credit on your 2022 tax return after you take delivery of the vehicle.  Depending on the date the vehicle is delivered, you can claim the credit on your original, superseding, or amended 2022 tax return.

If you purchased a vehicle between August 16, 2022 and December 31, 2022 but don't take delivery of the vehicle until 2023, see Credit for New Clean Vehicles Purchased in 2023 and After
