Delivery Experience - Sorry for the novel!

Thought I would post this while it is all still fresh.  We were assigned a vehicle coordinator for home delivery in San Diego via email on August 17th.  The next email was about the payment process.  We had to wait for the buyers order to be completed with final total due so we could make payment.  That took a week to get that number nailed down. I was following along with the next steps in the Fisker App and noticed that it said you had to select home delivery.  I had requested home delivery during the order process so I did not expect that so I emailed to make sure the vehicle would be delivered to my home.   That opened a case # which was replied to promptly and my coordinator confirmed the home delivery.  After payment was completed we did the final signing of documents and DMV forms.  We should have then been able to schedule delivery via the app.  This proved to not work on either the desktop version or phone version but my vehicle coordinator assured me on Tuesday, September 12th that we were confirmed for delivery on Saturday, the 16th but she did not have a time frame yet.  That was the last I heard from the coordinator.  I texted her on Friday and Saturday morning and called too and got no response.  I had no other contact info for the vehicle and was really upset.  The corporate location was of course closed on Saturday and there is no phone for the lounge in LA.  I ended up opening a case # thru the vehicleadmin email address and asked for the status of my delivery.  At that point, I thought we would not be getting the car and would have to wait till next week to talk to some one and reschedule.  Right before 1:00 pm, I got a call from a transport company that they were going to deliver the car.  They were in Riverside and said the car would be delivered after it was washed and should arrive between 3:00 - 3:30 on a 35ft trailer.  The driver called at 3:30 and due to the truck size he had to park at the end of our street (we are on a private road up a hill) and we drove down to meet him.  There was no Fisker person to show us how to drive the vehicle or even to demonstrate the basic functions.  Unfortunately, I did not read the manual prior to delivery and this was our first EV and we were clueless and so was the driver.  After some experimentation and suggestions from the driver, we got the vehicle going and were able to drive it up the hill to our house.  Needless to say, it was not like the service and instruction you get when buying a new car at a dealership.  We are very excited to have the car now and spent yesterday and today reading up on everything.   Just thought this might encourage anyone who has not received their car yet to READ THE MANUAL first.  🙄

Thanks for the write up and useful advice.  I'll be going through it in a week or three.  I'm glad I was able to get a test drive. The concierge service that Sean recieved seems to not be avialble to other FOO owners.

@hzleygirl This is UNACCEPTABLE and irritating!

Fisker could at least made a short welcome video and sent email link to all FOO owners on what to expect with home delivery. They could have done this well ahead of time and again the day of delivery. Also, a video on basics of FOO operation could help. 

The delivery expereince gives a rental car vibe, where I had to sit in the car and figure out the controls for a few minutes.

@hzleygirl this is similar to our experience but we sat around and waited 4 hours for delivery only to get an email saying our delivery was being delayed.  Other experiences you had were similar.

@fisker-brat The sad thing is they do have tutorial videos but they don't tell anyone they have them (they could also expand on the videos they have)...

@ttrinchi They have 4 short tutorials. None on basic vehicle operation. They can do much better with these.

I believe the delivery process might have undergone some changes since I received my Ocean two months ago. These changes may be aimed at expediting the delivery of vehicles to everyone. As a result, vehicles are dropped off by the delivery company and an online live video orientation is available. I would have been fine with this approach too as long as I read the manual ahead of time.

It's good feedback that they should have a quick-start video or quick start pictogram pamphlet. Based on my test drive, it is about a 5 second thing to tell people where the shifter is and it's been a long time since most people have experienced a shifter on the column. 

Their Drive mode video doesn't show it, Easy add.

@seancallahan  We expected the Ocean to do one-pedal driving based on other EVs I had heard about and my Dad's that we had driven.  During delivery the car started to roll backwards and I had to stop it quickly!  Understanding how to use the column gear selector to put the car in drive in combination with the emergency brake and/or normal parking release was confusing.  You use the brake to turn the car 'ON' and then put it in drive but the "P" does not always go away and let you drive with the accelerator.  I may have a bug with the emergency brake release.  Basic operation procedure and how to use the wipers since it was misty raining would have made for a much less stressful delivery experience. 😲

@hzleygirl Understood. Do you think it would be useful for others if I created a "Quick Start" video with the following? If so, maybe I can do that tomorrow. Please let me know what is missing or would be useful to cover.

  • Releasing parking brake
  • Getting car into gear (reverse/drive/park)
    • Using NFC/key to place car into gear
  • Applying parking brake
  • Turning on windshield wipers/rain-sensing wipers
  • Adjusting seat/steering wheel
  • Adjusting side mirrors/review mirror (standard/digital)
  • Adjust regenerative braking
  • Turning on headlights
    • Automatic headlights
  • Locking/unlocking car
  • Opening/closing charge port

turning on/turning off various functions like lane departure warning and any interior alarms that sound when i am within 15’ of another vehicle😁

Will I get my Fisker One delivered before my VW needs its 100K service?? The race is on..
and…… will we still get the $7500 tax credit? Only HF knows…

@seancallahan   I think a Quick Start video would be very useful for pre-delivery.  It is so much easier to watch something done then just read about it in a manual and you can re-watch as much as you want. 😀
