No, not required if the entire cover is sealed like on the Ocean. However, if you just have the J1772 connected, the two DC ports are exposed. Not great in the rain or snow. Thanks for pointing that out.

@mtn-ranger thank you! Not too important as I charge at home in my garage! But what if I use 120 or 240 portable EVSE to charge out doors (Devils advocate)?

The CCS version should fit - the top looks like it fits more on the European Mennekes adapter as opposed to J1772 but could fit (or you could always just cut off the top part).

I haven't tried on; I am fine with the charge port door covering the area.
