Here is the latest response by Fisker re: Big Sur Blue that I just received from a friend by email:
Our matte finish paints are durable and designed for automotive use! It is true that matte finishes may require different techniques that you are used to, but the amount of maintenance is comparably the same as a gloss finish to avoid micro-scratches.
In line with general information available for matte-finish paints, we do not recommend automatic car washes, but instead hand-washing matte finishes. We also recommend using a non-acidic solution when washing your matte-finish Ocean One. More information on exterior paint maintenance will be shared in our Fisker Ocean owner's manual.
We cannot guarantee the release of the Fisker Ocean Owner's Manual prior to your Edit Build Lock Date, however we recommend independent research from general information available on matte finishes to aid in making your Fisker Ocean exterior paint election.

“We also recommend driving on well maintained roads with minimal semi-truck usage, and to carry a large microfiber towel with you to carefully wipe clean the surface while stopped at red lights or in traffic jams. Bottled water such as physician recommended for baby formula or immune-compromised adults is also encouraged for all handwashing and with the use of a mink fur sponge/chamois”.. HF

Hey everybody, we offer all these options but will not provide you with any more information even though we promised some of you would have delivery of vehicle in December of 2022. We are behind schedule even though we just keep saying we are right on target and we are still running around trying to figure out just exactly what we are building, what the options are and how they'd be used along with any dimensions both externally and internally. What we can tell you though is that the screen will rotate and we have trays to put your tacos on while you watch a movie at the slowest charging station partner we could find in the US.

My step father has an Ioniq 5 in matte paint. Its pretty gorgeous. I would be so tempted to get matte paint. He ended up doing a full car wrap (PPF) and it has worked very well in keeping it up. He uses it pretty hard too. Doesn't wash it often if ever, and drives around in the country and all their dirt and gravel roads. It looks great. Actually since its matte the dust that sticks to the car is actually less visible that it would be on a shiny kine car because well... its matte!
I would probably say its worth getting the wrap done if you do get matte paint, and when it comes to washing making a thing out of it. There are some pretty awesome products out there for caring for matte cars. Get the right stuff for matte paint, and turn car washing into a hobby. Honestly its one of my favorite things to do with my cars. If you get matte paint, just be prepared to develop a car washing hobby and make a day out of it regularly with music, and good drinks.

@grimtango does really good iced coffee count as a “good drink”? I would not want to risk a semi inebriated buffing faux pas with the BSB…

Good coffee or tea is almost always my go to drink of choice. Alcohol is not a good detailing drink 😀
