Rough Seas Today
Well the Ocean was a bit rough today and I had to get towed.
I left work and stopped at a store to pick something up. When trying to unlock the car there was a small noise by the mirrors but the handles didn't present. Tried a couple more times with the key no dice. Went into the app and door unlock was failing. I was able to open the trunk. I was lucky enough to be working with a Radgiver on a separate issue and I was able to get in contact with him. Next steps hold key on drivers handle the car didn't recognize it. Next I was able to climb through the car to place it by drivers door nothing. I was able to press unlock on the inside. DONT DO THIS! The handles opened but the car alarm went off when the door was opened. Radgiver remotely sent an unlock which didn't seem to work but then I was able to hit lock in the app and that worked. Then able to unlock and open the door without alarm BUT dash showed main battery at 0% tried steering wheel button reset no dice. I parkers with 40 % called tow truck threw the app. Radgiver said the 12 volt battery needed a jump. Well guess what tow company did not have proper tools to open hood. Luckily while waiting for the truck it reset and I was able to put into gear. But I had it towed home until we can verify the other battery is ok.
@bpocean1 I've experienced a dead 12-volt battery, but there's no need to worry about the High Voltage battery—it's smooth sailing. Your Ocean will be navigating the open seas again shortly. A jump start or a battery swap does the trick. Fisker is on the brink of rolling out a new over-the-air (OTA) software update that should hopefully resolve the issue causing the Ocean to drain the 12-volt battery.
@seancallahan yeah I had no concern with the main battery. But with the tow company not having the tools and they didn't have them so I will now carry the tools and jump box with me just incase until the issue is resolved. Love the sound of OTA update!
@bpocean1 Yeah, I recently got trim tools and a jump box (NOCO boost plus) during Amazon Prime Big Deal Day. Figured it couldn’t hurt to carry them and a socket wrench until it’s sorted. Yeah, I install the OTA at 10am tomorrow when I get to the shop doing the PPF. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Oh nice how do I get the ota? Also who is doing the ppf? I'm getting the tint redone. I have all the tools already and jump box ( Costco)
@bpocean1 Reached out to by Fisker rep. I'll DM you details about my PPF. I've done tint before, but never PPF. Fun to do if you have the tools.
@seancallahan Any idea if this problem has been fixed for cars that are in production and/or at port? Are we really buying jumper boxes for a 70K car? Is there any central communication from Fisker on how they are resolving all these on-going issues? I am getting very nervous to accept my car once it is out of production right now given all the issues.
@shannon-marrin You don't need to buy anything. Everything will be fixed. It is likely fixed with the latest OTA software update I received yesterday, just waiting for release notes.
