Had a bad experience when the autopilot was engaged. Going 75 MPH, no cars in front of us, and the car automatically slams on the brakes. It did this time and again even with cruise control enabled and me steering. Any reason why this happens and how to prevent it?

It's "phantom braking."  Shocked you never experienced before.  It does happen mostly without cars in front - I think with a car in front, it doesn't get as confused  as it is just following the car.  I think it happens a lot due to shadow changes or items encroaching the road (low bridges, signs, etc.)

That's freaking scary, Sean.  Good thing it didn't happen if you had chosen that moment to disengage your seatbelt to reach for something.

Yet another reason why 99.97% of the time I will have any driver assist functions turned off.

Will I get my Fisker One delivered before my VW needs its 100K service?? The race is on..
and…… will we still get the $7500 tax credit? Only HF knows…

Thank you so much. Never heard of this before. Yeah, I only use it on the freeway in San Diego and sometimes en route to Palm Springs. Maybe I only use it at night time if that makes any difference with shadows.
