Long video but a good watch.  This is by far my biggest concern about switching out my Tesla.  Never have an issue with the Supercharger network.

I am worried about long distance trips going forward (especially as we do not own any ICE vehicles and have no desire to drive one). At least in California, DCFC stations are spread out well along the Interstates but each location just has way too few stations and way too many maintenance issues. Most places I stop on trips seems to have 4-6 stalls.

Taking the 5 from L.A. to S.F., roughly the mid-point is Kettleman City & Harris Ranch. EA has a station in Harris Ranch and they are building one at Kettleman City, however, HR has 6 stalls and who knows how many they will have at KC. Meanwhile, Tesla had 40 stalls at KC & 18 at HR. They just opened another 55 stalls across the street in KC and are building an additional 80 stalls in HR.

I know right now there are considerable more Teslas on the road than CCS vehicles, but with a dozen companies selling cars with CCS plugs, it will not take long that there will be millions of CCS vehicles on the road.

The BBB Act just did not go far enough.  We need much more infrastructure.  Poor DCFC is what is keeping BEVs from truly going mainstream.

How soon before Tesla(as promised) opens up their superchargers for other vehicles?

Will I get my Fisker One delivered before my VW needs its 100K service?? The race is on..
and…… will we still get the $7500 tax credit? Only HF knows…

@seaphil According to White House Statement, "Later this year, Tesla will begin production of new Supercharger equipment that will enable non-Tesla EV drivers in North America to use Tesla Superchargers."  In Elon speak, "later this year" is 2026 😛.

The rumor is that Tesla is developing a V4 supercharger that will accommodate both Tesla & CCS.  The problem with that method is that the V4s would only be installed at new locations so only a small portion of locations will initially have CCS support.  The V3 (250 kW) chargers they made have been mostly installed at new locations (or expansions); for the most part, they have not upgraded any existing sites to V3.

@ttrinchi
I suspect that any and all new charging stations will take place along the major interstate corridors to facilitate more long range travel, and then you will start to see it work its way into the auxiliary roads and back roads a few years later. Seems to make the most sense to put it along the big highways as that is where the majority of people who travel tend to go rather than off the beaten path

@seaphil Yes, the problem is that Tesla already has the major corridors covered so new locations would not be there.  Hopefully, the new locations would fill in gaps and add additional stations to existing locations.  I would prefer if Tesla could provide an adapter to have CCS work on existing Tesla locations.

As an FYI, here is a great site for Supercharger locations:

@ttrinchi  Great resource, thanks!  Hopefully by the time we take delivery of our ONES, there will be a bunch of new locations added to that list and we will have the ability to use some of them with our Fiskers.  Even if they throttle back non-Tesla charge from 250kw to 150kw, it will help alleviate range anxiety for sure.

@mtn-ranger Another good video.  At this point, I will be ecstatic for "Big Oil" to start investing in EV infrastructure.  I think the reason most people are hesitant purchasing an EV is due to charging; the price differential from ICE to EV keeps diminishing.  As they completely broke the EV tax credits with the IRA, I would actually like to see the government just get rid of the entire program and just focus on building up the charging networks (and servicing).  Just think of how much U.S. labor they can get from installation and servicing of networks!
