Farley mentions we shouldn't be driving around with $20,000 of additional electric battery we don't need with the use of a good supercharger network.

This is actually huge EV news.  Initial cars will get Tesla to CCS adapters. New cars will have NACS port installed from the factory.

Clarified in this article that the next gen Ford EVs with the NACS port will be the only port.  A CCS to Tesla adapter will be included.

Being able to use the full Supercharger network without needing to buy a Tesla will be huge.  This is great for Ford.

@ttrinchi this is not what they said. They are keeping a lot of chargers just for Tesla cars   So like the news guy said it might be at truck stop on North Dakota SouthDakota border.it was on the show just after Jim Cramer. He also said that Tesla knows Wich ones to keep for owners not to piss them off.they are opening up 12000 superchargers they Tesla have 45000

@william-simpson I would still rather have access to 40% of all superchargers (45k is global, not U.S./Canada) than buying another Tesla.  It will be fun to see the backlash Tesla will get when Ford customers start showing up to chargers that don't work for them.

GM will have much higher volumes than Ford with Equinox starting at 30k, Blazer from 40k. VW will also be in that space. CCS is here to stay. Tesla was already forced to comply with the European version of CCS which is close enough to our CCS the main difference being L2 charging. Also, Hyundai/Kia will compete in the volume segment. Also, I hope that Fisker Pear will drive volumes too.

This should kill CCS for the US market which would be a great thing. It is a small niche number of vehicles and not relevant. We will need to see one of two more automakers make the switch and then it is game over. Personally, I would like to see Rivian make the move because it is a trend-setter and it is doing some very interesting things with the Rivian Adventure Network charging system. Toyota/Subaru is a likely candidate on the volume production side where this could help them, in at least one relevant area, be a little less behind in EVs.
