Cargo ship with electric vehicles catches fire near Netherlands

@seaphil Looks like the vessel was en route to a destination in Europe (name - Fremantle Highway). I don't think Fisker would send Oceans to Europe via cargo ship but lets pray 🙏 

I remember back February. another cargo vessel (Felicity Ace) carrying thousands of premium and electric cars from VW group (Lambo, Audi, Bentley etc) caught fire and sank taking down with it the precious, limited edition cars ...

At first I was like nah, Fisker doesn’t have 3000 cars to ship, but then saw the fire started after leaving port in Germany in one of 25 EVs on board and that sounded a little too on the nose.  However, if you believe unverified Twitter accounts linking to bot generated web sites translated to by safari to English (which I do in this case),  the ship was bound for Egypt; and we know Cairo won’t even have an experience center at least Q1.

Serious point: wish much peace and comfort toward any lives onboard lost or suffering and their families.  God bless.

While Fisker wouldn't have 3,000 cars on a single boat, they could have any number of cars on any given boat.  In the past, their shipments left from Zeebrugge, Belgium (and not Germany), but did see Freemantle's previous port before Bremerhaven was Zeebrugge; however, as the ship was heading to Egypt, doubtful in contained any Oceans.

I came across this Press Release from last week on the Fisker website- or it might have been in the Onion, but definitely one of the two. 

”In an effort to minimize shipping costs and to offset expenses incurred during the great Ocean One California Airlift, Fisker Inc announces that 25 Fisker Ocean Ones, ultimately destined to the West Coast USA, were shipped on a Dutch based carrier scheduled to stop first in Cairo,Egypt before eventually disembarking in Long Beach, California.”

@seaphil I hope those cars have already West Coast and are not on this ill-fated ship. We won't know for sure until someone publishes the ship's manifest

@ashutosh-sakpal I hope that didn’t involve Fisker Ocean. We need more Fiskers delivered, some of us are still waiting for 1st & 2nd Q deliveries🙁 I guess we’ll keep our fingers crossed.🤞
